Bible verses for encouragement

Sorry for my absence lately.  Work has been crazy, then my days off have been full of catching up with housework, as well as gardening.  And then any extra free time has been spent with David, doing whatever we feel like.

So that explains what I have been doing instead of blogging!  I wish I could tell you I had been thinking up great post ideas and had the next month planned out…but I don’t. Instead, I am writing a simple post from the heart.  I don’t divulge a lot of personal details here on my blog, but I have mentioned that we have had a trying few years lately.  Certain things did not go according to plan, others were harder than we thought, and at times we saw no way out of our current situation.  But God is good, friends. After a particularly large disappointment, I decided to turn to scripture and write out some verses that I could use for encouragement, should another disheartening situation arise.

Today I am sharing them with you, in hopes that you will benefit from reading them, too.

But blessed are those who trust in the Lord, and have made the Lord their hope. Jeremiah 17:7

In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps. Proverbs 16:9

Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love Him. James 1:12

But I trust in the Lord, I say “You are my God”. Psalm 31:14

Lord Almighty, blessed is the one who trusts in You. Psalm 84:12

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him… Romans 15:13

Commit your plans to the Lord and you will succeed. Proverbs 16:3

“For I know the plans I have for you” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”. Jeremiah 29:11

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. Proverbs 3:5

And we know that all things that God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28

Let the morning bring me word of Your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in You.  Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.  Psalm 143:8

But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, tossed and blown by the wind. James 1:6

The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth. Psalm 145:18

After reading through these verses, my problems did not disappear.  I still struggled to understand why things weren’t going the way I hoped, but I had reassurance that it was all for a purpose.  I don’t know what that purpose is yet, but i know there is one.  I know that God holds my future in His hands, and that the negative stuff that happens in my life is going to be for good in some way.
