fall date ideas

Fall means crisper air and gorgeous colours in nature! The season is of special significance to me because David and I met in the fall of 2008 and our first real date was a hike in November with his family’s dogs.  Since then we have enjoyed many outdoor dates and also cozy indoor ones during this season. When we were dating it seemed like anything we did together was fun and exciting, and since we didn’t live together literally every time we hung out was a date.  Now that we are married, we seem to have formal dates less often but obviously still enjoy spending time together.  I’ve compiled a list of our favourite fall date activities to inspire you and your spouse this season!

  1. Take a hike and admire the changing leaves
  2. Make apple cider
  3. Visit a farm to pick a pumpkin
  4. Spend time browsing the internet for the perfect pumpkin carving design
  5. Check out local fall festivals or fairs
  6. Go for a bike ride in the crisp air
  7. Collect pretty leaves to press and frame
  8. Cook a meal together
  9. Watch the sunset
  10. Get out your camera and take photos of each other surrounded by fall colours
  11. Check your local parks for outdoor events, such as guided walks
  12. Make popcorn and watch a movie
  13. Have a “family date night” with other couples from your family
  14. Find matching or coordinating outfits and take cute pictures (we did that last year and used one of the photos for our Christmas card!)
  15. Bake cookies
  16. Check out books from the library and read together in front of a fire (or use the Youtube version)
  17. Make s’mores indoors using your microwave
  18. Check out garden center for deeply discounted potted plants and create fall planters
  19. Shop at a roadside produce stand or on farm market
  20. Look through old photos and print and frame them
  21. See a drive in movie
  22. Check out your provincial or national park’s Fall Colour Guide and take a drive to look at the changing leaves
  23. Visit local coffee shops to determine which has the best hot chocolate or cider
  24. Book a free tour at a brewery, distillery or winery
  25. Start Christmas shopping and get it done early

What else would you put on this list?

P.S. How about historical photos where you dress in period clothing and take a picture together. My hubby and I did this on our honeymoon :)
