This week I’m starting a new feature on the blog: Memory Verse Monday! Each Monday I’m going to share a Bible verse that David and I are memorizing and I invite you all to join us. We have our verse written out on a large chalkboard in the living room but you can write yours anywhere, or even save the handy graphic at the end of the post to you phone or computer.
Since today marks our third anniversary of being homeowners I chose Joshua 24:15 for this week. It’s a longer verse so I shortened it a bit for the ease of memorizing it. It reads: But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.
I like this passage because it makes such a simple statement: my family will serve God. Even though we are Christians and have chose to live accordingly, it’s a nice reminder to see this verse.
I prefer to use handwriting instead of printing, but since I know not everyone can easily read it I have created a little printable for your use. You can save the image to your device or even print it you if you choose.
It would be neat to print out all the verses we learn together and save them to look at in a year and see all that you have remembered.
Did you know that there is a worship song based on this verse (my mom enjoys it a lot!)?
I look forward to memorizing verses with you! Let me know how you’re doing in the comments below or on Facebook.
