I am thoroughly enjoying the cooler weather we’ve had lately!  While I like the summer I’ve had enough of the heat!  Everyone is all ‘Ooh, fall!!  Sweaters, PSLs, boots, crisp air…blah blah blah” but I have truly always enjoyed fall.  It’s been my favourite season for as long as I can remember (and not just because my birthday is in the fall!), and since I love layering, I am always happy to break out the sweaters.

This year I have been trying to simultaneously update and purge my wardrobe.  Update with things like skirts of thicker material, coloured long sleeved shirts and nice sweaters and purge things I no longer wear or like.  I am trying to find new sweaters that can be dressed up or down and will keep me warm in the cold weather.  I recently found this polka dot one at a thrift store and it has already been worn with a wool skirt and heels, as well as this outfit.

I chose to pair my sweater with my stand by blue cotton skirt and a pink tank top. It felt weird to wear blue with blue but I am trying to view my skirt like jeans, meaning anything goes with it!

I am glad I got dressed this day because shortly after David left for class I got a text from a friend asking if I wanted to go out for lunch.  She lives so close to me that by the time I had replied “yes” she was already in my driveway!  She asked me out a little while ago but I was in bed with a headache and answered the door in my jammies…I admit it was embarrassing!

Okay…sometimes we have too much fun taking photos!

One of the things I enjoy doing once cooler weather hits is painting my nails.  All spring and summer I do my toenails but as soon as it’s closed toe shoe season, the fingers get their turn!  My usual colour choices are shades of red or purple but I decided to give this dark brown a go.  I’m debating adding a sparkle coat over top…hmmm.

Do you have a favourite thing about fall?

  1. I love your polka dot sweater, Christina! Very cute! Fall is one of my favorite seasons, partly because I love layering! So I always look forward to getting out my fall clothes. :) Thanks so much for sharing at Artful Homemaking!
