spring style inspiration: fashion

Good morning, friends.  I can happily say that Spring will soon be here!  I admit I’m not a big fan of Spring, what with the rain and slushy melting snow, but I AM a fan of dressing in less layers!  I’ve really had it with winter this year and  I’m looking forward to wearing my “happy” clothes!  At the start of each season I rotate my clothes so that the out of season pieces get packed up and stored in the attic to make room for the current items I’ll wear.  I take this time to go through the clothes and determine if things should be kept or given away.  If I didn’t wear something all last season I usually give it away.  A lot of my clothes have been…ah, shrinking, so my wardrobe size has been slowly shrinking.  As tempted as I am to rush out and buy all new things I know that isn’t nessacary because I still have a lot of clothing.  Instead I’m taking to Pinterest to see if I can find some inspiration to revamp my current clothing this Spring.

First up: casual but comfy.  I’m loving this look for lounging at home, maybe doing some gardening.  I actually have pants similar to this but I’ve never thought of wearing them out of the house.  To me, this look says casual but put together.

I chose this picture to represent mixing colours that I normally wouldn’t.  The orange and pink look great here!

Pairing a floral skirt with a light coloured sweater looks appropriate for spring but the warm sweater is practical for the unpredictable weather.

I have not been wearing pants very often lately but I really like this look.  Sometimes I need to wear jeans but want me rear end to be covered. This look is cute and not at all frumpy.

I’m undecided about trying tights with shorts.  I did that once in high school and it was pretty comfy, but I’m sure if it’s too immodest now.  I like this image for inspiration because the shorts have a respectable hemline and the tights just blend in.

Mixing prints is high on my fashion to-do list this spring!

Again with the mixed prints.

I have a very similar pair of pants that I LOVE wearing but I’m always concerned that people will think I’m wearing jammies. This look inspires me to give them another try!

I actually have a skirt and top similar to this!

When I was in middle school I used to colour block a lot more.  While I usually stuck to beige and browns this look is nice and spring-y.  It makes me want to try colour blocking again but with brighter colours.

Not only does the upcoming season change inspire me to dress differently, it also has me wanting to bake new goodies and revamp my gardens!  I’ll be posting some inspiration for those later.

  1. I love so many of these ideas! I wrote a similar “spring style” post – it is such a struggle to switch to spring clothes when it is still cold out lol. My favorite idea is to wear a light colored sweater with a long skirt. It looks super feminine and spring-y as well as warm.

  2. so cute! I love the jeans outfit and the second to last outfit. :) I’m so excited for spring!
