Thankful Thursday

Greetings on this unseasonably cold morning!  Seriously, where did the summery weather go?!  On the weekend David and I were wearing shorts while we did yard work and today I’m bundled in long pants and a hoodie.  It has me wondering if summer 2015 will be cool, followed by a a warm fall.  I’m just hoping the weather warms up for Saturday, because we are having some friends over for a BBQ.

Have I got some big news to share with you all!  I’m not really one to post their personal life all over the internet (yes, I have a blog, but I’m not going to treat it like a diary!) but this news is something that affects my blogging, which is why I’m sharing it.  It’s the first point in my thankful list, so read on.

  1. I put in my 2 weeks notice at work.  I’m thankful for this because I don’t enjoy being there and it keeps me from social events like seeing my friends and going to church (the leader of our student ministries was actually ordained on Sunday, which means she is now officially a pastor, and I couldn’t be there because of work). David and I talked about it for a while and we decided that I would eventually quit but the timing didn’t seem right.  As some of you know I work at both a grocery store and a library, and the grocery store is the place I’m leaving.  Recently the library offered me more hours to run the children’s programming for the summer, so I said yes. I’m looking forward to making my own hours, having weekends off and being able to spend my free time how I please.
  2. The plans I have for our gardens are finally being implemented.  Please don’t mistake what I said to mean that David hasn’t been doing any work on the yard…he works during the day so most of the easy landscaping falls to me, since I am the one who wants it done anyways! But when I have a free time I usually spend it doing other things, besides yard work.  Thankfully I’ve had some time and motivation to complete small garden projects.
  3. We are having friends over this weekend!  One of my ongoing goals is to be more social, so we invited another couple over for a BBQ on Saturday.  They are friends of ours we don’t get to see very often so we are all looking forward to catching up.

What are you thankful for this week?  Let me know using #OWHThankfulThursday or in the comments below.
