I just realized that I posted Thankful Thursday on a Wednesday…oops!
Bless the Lord, oh my soul! It is a good day to be alive, friends. The sun is shining, the birds are singing and the flowers are blooming. Days like today make me so thankful to live in Canada where we can experience the wonder of all 4 seasons!
Here’s what I’m thankful for this week:
- Being able to catch up on sleep! While I was working (I quit my job, in case you missed it) my hours varied throughout the week but I almost always did the 7AM shift on Monday. I had actually worked that shift every Monday for several months, which meant I woke up at 5:30. I had been feeling constantly tired lately and I think it was my body trying to shut down and get me to rest, but I am not a day napper! Well, this Monday was my first Monday off and I slept in! I also slept for an extra 3 hours on Tuesday morning! David was nice enough to let me keep sleeping while he got ready for work:)
- Selling summer clothes that don’t fit. In the past I’ve tried to sell some clothes online but have had no luck. I end up donating them to a local store, similar to Salvation Army, which is nice because I know people will get use from them. But at the same time I was frustrated not being able to a little money from selling them, since I now needed to replace those clothes. Well on Saturday afternoon I listed 2 dresses for sale and by evening they were sold! I sold them for half the cost when I bought them last summer but now I have a little bit of extra money to purchase something new! #smallvictories
- David put out a small fire at our neighbor’s while they were away. Our neighbor had dropped a still lit cigarette into a cedar planter by his deck and then left for the day. When I got home from the library David said he thought there was smoke coming from the neighbor’s deck and went to investigate. Sure enough, the planter had been slowly burning and was now on fire. We couldn’t find a garden hose so we ran back and forth from our house with full watering cans to douse the flames and soak the wooden planter. David lifted the planter away from the house and we kept an eye on it all day. Then a big storm came in and soaked the planter even more! We left a message on the neighbor’s voice mail letting them know what happened and he called us when he got in, thanking us for being alert. David joked after that weekends are for fire fighting, since our BBQ caught fire the previous Saturday (and we had to use the fire extinguisher) !
