Hello friends! I hope all my fellow Canadians had a great Canada Day yesterday! My mom and I have a fun tradition of driving to the beach for Canada Day, but this year we had to skip it. It was pretty chilly here and rainy all day so we decided to forgo the usual hour long drive in favour of a local multicultural festival instead. Thankfully the rain let up in the afternoon so we were able to eat outside and enjoy the performances taking place. I’m still disappointed we couldn’t go to the beach, but we are planning another trip next week :) Better late than never!
Here’s my list of what I’m thankful for this week:
- Sunshine! It’s been unseasonably cool lately but today the sun is out and the forecast predicts nice, sunny, summery weather.
- To be Canadian. Canada truly is the best country and I’m so blessed to live here! I’m also thankful that Canada is welcoming of immigrants, because my grandparents (on my mom’s side) were able to leave Croatia and make a life here. I’m a second generation Canadian, but my life would have been so different, had my grandparents stayed in Croatia.
- I’m finally over the sickness I had a couple weeks ago. Long story short: in the middle of June David and I started having bad stomach pains. I ended up being hospitalized, tested and given some large bags of saline solution to rehydrate. We suspected our well water was contaminated and were right! Turns out, I had E-coli poisoning, which is a pretty serious deal. After some more days of rest I was fully recovered. It was an awful and painful experience and I am SO thankful it’s gone!
