Thankful Thursday

Greetings on this weirdly warm September day! With weather like this it’s hard to believe fall will officially start in less an a week!  But with the inevitable arrival of fall we have Thanksgiving, and even though it’s still a few weeks away (we celebrate in October over here in Canada) I find myself mentally giving thanks a lot more during this season than any other.  I am especially thankful for the weather cooling down…this year my seasonal allergies started late in the game in August but 6 weeks later I have had enough!  The cooling temps are helping keep the allergens at bay so I am able to get relief!

Here’s what else I’m thankful for this week:

  1. Having a fun birthday weekend. My birthday fell on a Saturday this year so I got to just relax in the afternoon and then David and I went to dinner. The next day my dad took me out for dinner and on Monday I went shopping with my mom.  Overall, a good way to celebrate being a quarter of a century.
  2. A great start to my church youth group. I started as a leader last year but towards the end of the session, so I didn’t really get a chance to know the students well.  Yesterday was the first night of the year and it went well!  I’m looking forward to spending the next several months with this group.
  3. Entering our third year as homeowners. September 28 marks 3 years since we bought our home.  When we got engaged and started thinking about where to live, there was no doubt we wanted to purchase a home, not rent something.  We saved for over a year and were able to come up with a down payment of 20% of our purchase price.  Owning a home has been an interesting experience, but I wouldn’t change anything!

  1. It’s actually been really cool here! It’s been nice having the windows open for the past few days. :) I live in TN. It’s been in the 50’s here, but it’s heated up a little bit.
    P.S I think it’s funny you said a quarter of a century, rather than 25, haha! ;P

    • Ahh, lucky you for having cool weather! Haha, I said “quarter of a century” because someone wished me happy birthday and said that and it was too funny not to share:) Thanks for reading, Katie!
