How can we be in the second week of August? It certainly feels like summer with the hot and sticky weather we’ve been having…or so I’m told. I work in an air conditioned store three days a week so by the time I get home, it’s cooled down a bit.
This is week two of the #MYWAugust #AugustFashionChallenge that I’ve been running on Facebook. It’s been a fun way to make outfits and I’m loving the inspiration I’m getting from the other ladies participating. It’s not too late to join in the fun! Check out this post for details.
For the “neutrals with a pop” theme I wore a black and white polka dot dress that I’ve had since I started my first real job in 2010. I paired it with a hot pink belt I got a few years ago for Christmas.
The next day was “bright and cheery” so I wore one of my favourite tee shirts, which I picked up FOR FREE at a free market in college (back in 2009). I love this tee shirt and it always makes me smile to see it. I wore a denim pencil skirt to complete the outfit.
The theme for August 7 was “nature inspired”, and my first thought was to go with something floral. Instead I picked bright yellow (for the sun) and a fun leopard cardigan.
The next day was sparkle, which I sort of failed at, but my earrings are sparkly! And so are my rings and bracelets:)
When it came time to wear “an old favourite” I picked this fun midi skirt which I’ve owned since high school. Back then, midi skirts were not a fashionable item, so I used several well placed safety pins to make this skirt knee length. I’m so glad I was too lazy to actually hem it with needle and thread because it was quite easy to make longer once this style was in fashion again! Last summer I wore this skirt with a graphic tee but this time I went more professional and wore a soft yellow top. I actually made this one using fabric from the store, instead of a thrifted sheet! I’m quite pleased with how it turned out and plan to make more in different colours.
I forgot I wore my yellow skirt already this week and wore it again for yesterday’s “colour blocking” challenge. Yellow and pink are becoming a fave combo of mine so I knew this was the way to go again! I’m toying with the idea of pairing this skirt with this orange tee in the future, but I’m unsure.
If you’re following along with the challenge please let me know! Use #MYWAugust or #AugustFashionChallenge on social medias so I can see your outfits:)
